Not only is the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi bringing in successful numbers as he reigns number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for the now second consecutive week, he is also bringing in successful crowds as he performed a few of his hit songs, including the number one hit “Despacito” at The Copacabana on Wednesday, May 16, 2017 in a sold out room!
After releasing his last studio album “8” in 2014, Fonsi made a huge comeback into the music scene after the release of his worldwide hit “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee and part English remix featuring Justin Bieber went viral! To date, the single has reached the top five global list of Spotify and Youtube, as it has been streamed over 300 million times in a little over a month. With this kind of success, it was sure that Luis Fonsi’s presence was need in need in NYC, specifically at The Copacabana.
Here, at The Copacabana, we were honored to partner with Latin radio force Mega 97.9, Amor 93.1 and sponsors Goya, AT&T, Presidente, and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to bring a fun filled night and lifetime experience for over 600 people as they gathered to enjoy the party and performance.
The night was made of a VIP cocktail hour and buffet, as guests mingled in our rooftop venue awaiting showtime. VIP guests included fans, family members, and a few Latin celebrities including Mister and Miss Republica Dominicana US’16.
As guests mingled on the rooftop, Fonsi posed and interviewed with various press and media outlets who were there to get the scoop on how it felt about his success following “Despacito” and what he looks forward to in the future of his career.
Meanwhile, others gathered on the main dance floor to enjoy some live music and performances by singer/songwriter Sebastian Yatra and pop-reggaeton singer Karol G as they awaited Luis Fonsi.
It wasn’t long until Luis Fonsi graced the stage and screams of excitement filled the room! Performing for almost an hour, Fonsi gave everyone in attendance the performance they deserved left fans wanting more.
