6 fun Ideas if you’re spending Valentine’s Day solo or with friends

February 14, 2020

Valentine’s Day is a day when couples celebrate their love in cutesy and romantic ways for everyone to witness how beautiful their couplehood is. For some singles, this can be a mildly nauseating time of year and might cause you to momentarily overlook all the great things singlehood has to offer, such as the fun you get to enjoy as a single person. For anyone who’s single and disengaged this V-Day, here are some fun events that make it about you. Friends can get in on this too, but it’s definitely ok if it’s all about you.

1. Flower Design Workshop

When: Feb. 13, 2020 6:30 p.m.

Where: TimeOut Market, 55 Water St., Brooklyn, NY 11201

For single gals, single groups of friends, and anyone else who’d rather order their own flowers on V-Day than wait for a partner to make that happen, check out this flower designing workshop at TimeOut Market. This event will bring out your inner florist, teach you all about flower varieties and seasonal blooms, and guide you in the creation of your own unique floral arrangement. Your personalized bouquet will rival any ol’ bunch of flowers you’d find online, hands down.

2. The Fifth Annual "It's Friday, I'm (Not) In Love" Anti-Valentine's Party

When: Feb. 14, 2020 10:30 p.m.

Where: Littlefield NYC, 635 Sackett St., Brooklyn, NY 11217

Single people unite! What are we celebrating? Theskint.com is hosting their Anti-Valentine's Party for non-V-Day partakers … even not-quite-single people can join the party. Think more of liberation and freedom from love and heartache, and less red and pink, or chocolates and flowers. The event’s dress code is black, only black and all black. It doesn’t get any more anti-Valentine’s than that. Did we mention the 80s dance tunes?

3. Midnight Market

When: Feb. 14, 2020 6:30-11:59 p.m.

Where: Harborside Atrium, 210 Hudson St., Jersey City, NJ 07311

Who doesn’t enjoy a good food market? Spend this Valentine’s Day getting your grub on at the Midnight Market in Jersey City. This event is just one stop away from World Trade Center via the PATH, so it’s a quick trip over there. It’s over five hours of food, drinks and dancing, and you don’t need a partner for this one. Hit the market solo or go with friends and check out the 20-plus vendors offering delicious and plentiful options. The best part is nothing costs more than $7. There’ll be games and music (of course). Who knows, maybe you’ll end up dancing with a stranger.

4. Galentine’s Day Silent Disco Fitness Party

When: Feb. 13, 2020 6-8 p.m.

Where: Lost Battalion Hall Recreation Center, 93-29 Queens Blvd., Queens, NY 11374

Head to Shape Up NYC’s first Galentine’s Day silent disco party for a good workout and an awesome dance party morphed into one. This event is for gals, friends and anyone else who wants to engage in a fun activity that makes you feel good and focus on self-care this Valentine’s Day instead of cupid and his messy self. This won’t be just another boring fitness class. Expect an energetic event that includes dance fitness, Zumba and dance cardio. There’ll be snacks for the appetite you’re sure to work up, plus raffle prizes and giveaways.

5. What: Break Bar

When: Valentine’s Day, of course

Where: 458 9th Ave., New York, NY 10018

Break Bar NYC is the place for singles this V-Day. It’s clear that this bar was made for breaking things, with a throwing range and targets for you to throw your glasses at. What could be better than smashing glasses and effectively getting all your frustrations out? Doing this with friends will make for a fun night out and have you asking, “ Valentine’s what?” by the end of the night.

6. The Copacabana Times Square

When: Feb. 14 and Feb 15 11pm-4am

Where: 261 W 47th St.

After your fun-filled day of Valentine's adventures head to the Copacabana and party the night away. Sign up on the guestlist for FREE ENTRY before midnight and a complimentary shot and chocolate (before 12am). CLICK HERE to sign up on the guestlist. Ohhh and did I forget to mention..
